The Arts
Reflections
-
Annual art program and competition for performers and artists of all disciplines
-
Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs.
-
School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.

Green Team
-
Since 2014, Lowell has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Green Ribbon School (at the time, one of only four schools in California to receive this recognition)
-
Through our Green Team efforts, we have reduced lunch waste by 70%, won a $750 prize in the Grades of Green Trash Challenge, and accumulated 8000+ student hours in our outdoor Learning Garden.
-
Support the Green Team with a trash-free lunch:
-
bring reusable utensils
-
pack a cloth napkin
-
grab a reusable water bottle
-
try reusable containers
-
take a trash-free lunchbox
-
-
While all Green Team activities are kid-powered, we need lots of Parent volunteers (VIPs) to assist. Sign up to help at Back to School Night!
