PTA President’s Message, May 2017

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow up to be.”
– Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, J.K. Rowling

Dear Lowell Families,

With our Spring Break behind us, we’re in the home stretch of another school year! But even though less than two months remain in this school year, we have so many great activities left to enjoy with our Sea Stars in May and June, including some very beloved Lowell traditions!

The first week in May, our friends at George’s Greek Café have once again extended their generosity by hosting a Dining for Dollars event on May 4th. The next day is Lowell Night with the Dirtbags — have fun at the local ball field with our Lowell community as Cal State Long Beach faces off against Cal Poly at Blair Field (fireworks included!). Then, our own Mr. B sponsors the Annual Lowell Chess Tournament on Saturday, May 6.

Another great community event you won’t want to miss happens on Friday, May 13 — join your Lowell friends on the playground starting at 6:00 p.m. for a Pizza and Movie night featuring Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The very next day, several of our Lowell students will be presenting their projects at the LBUSD Science Fair, which will be held at Cabrillo High School (the morning of Saturday, May 14).

Many of our talented Lowell students will be on stage this month for TKTC’s Spring productions: Alice Rocks In Wonderland will be presented on May 18, 19, and 20, while The Jungle Book cast performs on May 26 and 27.

Another can’t miss event is Lowell’s annual Open House on May 25. Come see the class projects your children have been working on over the year, say “Hi” to teachers from previous years, and take an opportunity to meet the faculty who may be teaching your children next year.

The last three day weekend of the year is Memorial Day – enjoy your time off with family and friends!

And that’s just in May! In June, you can look forward to the Lowell Country Fair Spring Carnival on June 3, Teacher Appreciation Week from June 5-9, another Dining for Dollars event (this one at CPK), and our final PTA Meeting of the school year, where we will making plans for next year!

See you at school!

Principal’s Message, May 2017

Lowell Families,

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the month of May. Testing is coming up for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and our TK through 2nd graders are doing fantastic things in their classrooms. This is the time of year that goes by so quickly. Whether you have a 5th grader that is promoting, or a kinder student getting ready to move into 1st grade, the time moves incredibly fast. Take time to take in every moment of the next month and a half, these moments are as much for us as parents as they are for our little ones.

There is a lot coming our way over the next few weeks, please take a look at our PTA calendar and join us for as many events as you can.
