Changes for 2011-12 School Year
Due to budget cuts, the class size for kindergarten, first, second and third grade will be 30-1. Fourth and fifth grade classes will remain at 35-1. Each kindergarten teacher will have her own classroom. This will result in a schedule change. Kindergarten classes will have two start times: 8:30 or 9:30. Students will either attend from 8:30-11:50 or 9:30-12:50. At the current time Lowell is scheduled for 27 classes: four kindergarten classes; four, first grade classes; four, second grade classes; four, third grade classes; three, fourth grade classes; four, fifth grade classes; and four special education classes.

PTA Program Survey
The Budget Committee will be meeting over the summer to put together the Budget for the 2011-2012 school year. They need your help. What programs did you really like this year? Which programs were not your favorites? Your input will help them create a budget that accurately reflects the desires of this Association. Fill out the survey in the Log and ran rank the list of 22 events and/or programs the PTA sponsored this year. Feel free to comment about the programs as well.

Our Hand Ball Courts Need Your Help
Calling all artists...Lowell's handball courts are in
need of a makeover. The courts were painted by past students of Lowell and we would love to carry on this wonderful tradition. However, we need help with the artistic part. If you are that person; we need you. Our plan is to brainstorm ideas over the summer and implement our "painting plan" in the fall once the handball courts are repaired. Lowell Friends of Technology Foundation
Thank you again for your generous donation to the Lowell Technology Lab. As of March 31st we were pleased to announce that an order for all 40 iMacs
could be placed. Of the funds received, 75% came from Lowell Families, 12% came from corporate matching funds and 13% came from community businesses. We would like to formally thank F&M Bank, The Art Theatre, Long Beach BMW and the PCH& Second street project for their generous donations. Tech VIPs, a parent-volunteer group (similar to Meet the Masters) will allow tech savvy parents an opportunity to directly support students in the new Lab.
We will be inviting you to our "Ribbon- cutting " ceremony in the Fall where the new computer lab will be unveiled.

Over 1,323 Community Service Hours Donated
Every year we honor those students who volunteer their time and effort for community service. These students have participated within their classrooms and out in the community and have turned in their service logs. Students participated in a wide variety of volunteer activities including: making cards for the military, making lunches for the homeless, collecting canned goods, toys, and clothes, peacemaker and valet parking duties, beach clean-up, visiting the elderly, making blankets, stuffing Easter baskets, and so much more. Our thanks to Mrs. Osorio for overseeing this gracious program.

Last Call for Lost and Found!
Don't leave those sweaters, jackets and lunch boxes
at school over the summer! Parents and kids,
please come and check the lost and found before
vacation is here! Lost and Found will be emptied
on Monday, June 13, and all items will be donated
to charity. The Lost and Found area is located in the
hallway between the cafeteria and the auditorium.
